New Paint update

Ok, so I was really hoping to get the Ethan Allen hutch done and to my booth this weekend....It didn't happen.  I ran out of paint and had to order a sample size to finish up.  The finish is AMAZING but oh so expensive. This is where I am so far.

A little more distressed than I would have preferred, but notice the circles...those haven't been painted yet.  But they will give it just the punch it needs to balance the aged look.

I can't wait to finish it!
Paint the circles, finish the bottom, 3 coats of poly to finish it off and DONE!.  I hope someone else likes it as much as I do.  It's going to be tough to give this one up.

I did get this piece done though.

Here are the updates to my booth his weekend.  20% off the book page photo frames, t-shirt scarves and wine bottle lights.

Check out the tiki torch my Dad put together (Mom made the photo frames).
I thought I got this "re-do" gene from my Mom but I'm finding out more and more, my Dad is just as much to blame for the sleepless nights filled with ideas that make my head spin.  We're having so much fun.

Trying some new paint

I've been reading about this Annie Sloan Chalk Paint all over the blogoshere, so I thought I'd give it a shot.  Wish me luck!

This is the piece I'll be trying it on.  It's an Ethan Allen piece, so hopefully it's as great as everyone says it is.  I'd hate to ruin this one!

Hopefully it will be ready for Lalah V's next weekend!
I'll post pictures when it's done.

The Desk

Wow, I had a great afternoon!  Started with some great news from my boss, and ended with the purchase of an old Ethan Allen hutch via Craigslist.  I can't wait til the weekend to get started!

I'm really on a roll now!  Started with the final touches of this desk and it's been flowing ever since.  Can't wait to share more.

Here is the desk I bought over the summer...started over the summer....and just finished!  It was a great experience though.  I tested out a few strippers to get all of that orange paint off.

Sanding, painting, staining, clear coating...hours and hours later....Tada!

Can't wait to finish the next one!

Getting Started

Wow, that's all I really have to do right?  Get started?  I hope so.  I'm not sure why I'm having such a hard time committing to this dream of mine.  Time these days is so precious, but I waste it away obsessing and thinking about all the things I should be doing to get me to the places I could be going.
I want to say, "not anymore", but the thought of that terrifies me.  What if I fail, what if this isn't what I really want.  What if I don't fail?  Can I handle it?  Or, what if this is a "grass is always greener" situation?
More importantly, what if it isn't?  Do I want to waste another decade?  So...here I go.  I'm at least going to figure it out what I'm supposed to do with all of these ideas rolling around in my head, keeping me up at night, exhausting me to the point of feeling paralyzed!
These are the things I love to do obsess over:
Furniture-how to re-use, upcycle, turn it upside down for some other use.
Paper-this one is new for me-I've always had a hard time parting with paper...good thing I live with a neat freak or this blog might be about my hoarding tendencies...now, I'm finding ways to use it.  Paper beads, paper wreaths, paper flowers...
Anything recycled or upcycled- everyone got recycled t-shirts in some form or another for Christmas this year.  I loved every minute of making each one!

My First Furniture Re-do Ever!
I mean, I can't sleep at night because my heart is racing after seeing an old piece of furniture turned into a kids' kitchen.  Everyone gets that feeling when they see a piece of furniture repurposed, right?
I got SANDPAPER for Christmas this year!
I'm supposed to do something with this right?
Thank you Donna and thank you Shannon for lighting the fire.  I do not want to repeat 2011, it's time to make some changes and make 2012 something to remember.
